Senior Database Engineer in Las Vegas

Duties

As Sr. Database Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for supporting a broad range of existing MySQL Server installations and, in addition, will help with new installations in standalone and team installs.

Essential Duties AND Responsibilities

·         Utilizes technical knowledge to write and complete database tasks and projects

·         Researches new technologies and incorporates them into new systems

·         Takes initiative in leading projects, delegating responsibilities, and collaborating with others

·         Tests, integrates, troubleshoots, and tunes database systems

·         Works closely with other engineers to provide guidance and assistance in the areas of system related issues

Training AND/OR Experience

·         5+ Yrs. of experience with MySQL Server database administration and management.

·         Database Architecture and Development expertise a plus

·         Should be hands on with MySQL Server Configurations; Replication, Mirroring, Archiving, Query tuning, Database design

·         Linux experience including: heartbeat, DRDB, Clustering, custom MySQL engines , iptables and scripting experience

·         Experience with other Operating & RDBMS Systems a plus

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

·         Ability to work well with others in a team environment

·         Ability to work well in customer facing situations

·         An understanding of Software Development Lifecycle

·         Strong working knowledge of MS Windows and Linux Operating systems

·         Strong working knowledge of MySQL Server management tools

·         A working understanding of DNS & TCP/IP Networking, Storage Area Networks (SANs), Virtualized Environments, Reporting, Data Warehousing; SSAS a plus

·         C#/C++ Development experience a big plus.

·         Strong multi-tasking skills

·         Enjoy working in a fast paced & creative environment, must be willing to learn and adapt to new technologies

·         Excellent communication skills

·         A minimum of 20% travel to domestic and\or international sites may be required
